About Me.

I grew up in a music-loving family in Germany, where instruments of all kind were a constant presence. Playing music quickly became essential to me. I performed as the cellist in a baroque quartet with three other young women, which fueled my love for music. Yet I also recognized the challenges of a musician's life.

By entering the world of instrument making I found a way to merge my interests in music and crafts.

I studied Violin Making and Repair at the Newark School of Instrument Making. Aside from making and repairing violins I had the opportunity to explore various aspects of the craft. In my second year I built a viola da gamba and discovered a passion for decorative carving. My final year was dedicated to making a cello, a process I felt deeply connected to as a cellist myself.

In 2023 I graduated receiving a first-class degree with honours.

After finishing the course, I moved to Sheffield where I share house and workshop with three other instrument makers. Check out their websites here:

I gained more experience by building a cello with Tony Padday and working on various making projects for Antoine Gourdon.

When I'm not in the workshop, you will find me enjoying the sun in the garden, at folk sessions, social dances, up a climbing wall or at music and dance festivals.
